Life and Relationship Coaching near Chicago, IL

At the Center for Neurological Intelligence®, individuals, couples, and leaders are supported in understanding what is happening within them so they can live, love, and lead with greater clarity, connection, and choice.

Many people who find their way here are thoughtful, capable, and motivated. From the outside, life may appear successful or functional. Yet internally, something feels unsettled-emotional loops repeat, stress feels constant, relationships feel strained, or a quiet sense of disconnection persists.

  • This work is not about fixing what is broken. It is about understanding what was learned.

Using the framework of Neurological Intelligence®, this work helps make sense of how the nervous system formed meaning through lived experience-and how those patterns continue to shape thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships today.

  • When understanding replaces judgment, change becomes possible. Not through force or pressure, but through awareness.

A Different Kind of Support

Most of us were never taught how our nervous system works.

  • We learned how to perform. How to protect. How to survive.

But no one taught us how early experiences shape emotional meaning, relational patterns, or our sense of self. No one explained why we react the way we do, why certain situations feel overwhelming, or why familiar conflicts repeat even when we "know better."

Neurological Intelligence® offers a grounded, compassionate approach to understanding your inner world-without labels, urgency, or pressure to become someone else.

  • This work is not about self-improvement. It is about self-understanding.

As awareness grows, the nervous system begins to soften. Old protective strategies no longer need to run automatically. With practice, new responses become available-responses rooted in presence rather than reactivity.

Who This Work Supports

This work is for people from many walks of life who are seeking greater clarity, stability, and connection.

Life And Relationship Coaching Chicago, IL

Individuals

Individuals often seek this work when they are navigating stress, anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, or unresolved emotional patterns. Some feel overwhelmed or emotionally reactive. Others feel shut down, disconnected, or stuck in internal conflict.

Many are highly functional on the outside while quietly struggling within.

This work supports individuals who want to understand their nervous system, reduce internal tension, and develop healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Men, in particular, often find this work helpful when they want to move beyond internal protection patterns and connect in more authentic, grounded, and emotionally present ways-without sacrificing strength or integrity.

Life Coaching Services Chicago, IL

Couples

Couples often arrive feeling caught in repeating cycles of conflict, misunderstanding, or emotional distance. Conversations escalate quickly or go nowhere. Trust and safety feel fragile. Both partners may care deeply, yet feel unsure how to stop hurting one another.

Rather than focusing on who is right or wrong, this work helps couples understand what is happening within each nervous system during moments of stress. When this becomes visible, blame softens, defensiveness decreases, and curiosity returns.

Couples learn how to communicate with respect, understand individual and shared needs, and rebuild safety in ways that strengthen both the relationship and the individuals within it.

Relationship Coaching Sessions Chicago, IL

Executives and Leaders

Many leaders carry significant responsibility and invisible pressure. Decision-making never truly turns off. The nervous system remains engaged long after the workday ends.

This work supports executives and leaders who want to manage pressure more effectively, lead with clarity, and show up at home as partners or parents-not just as the boss.

Leadership here is not treated as a performance skill, but as an internal state shaped by the nervous system. When that system is supported, leadership becomes more sustainable, grounded, and fulfilling. You do not need to fit a category to belong here. If something inside you is seeking understanding, you are welcome.

How This Work Happens

My role is not to tell you who to be. It is to help you see what is already happening within you-with clarity, compassion, and practical guidance.

  • Together, we slow things down.
  • We listen to the body.
  • We observe patterns rather than fight them.

This work blends neuroscience, mindful awareness, and lived experience. Sessions are collaborative and paced with care, respecting the intelligence of your nervous system.

Change does not happen through willpower alone. It happens when awareness becomes embodied.

What Makes This Work Unique

At the Center for Neurological Intelligence®, the focus goes beyond traditional coaching by helping clients understand the neurological patterns shaping their inner and outer lives.

Founded by author and Neurological Life Coach Glenn S. Cohen, this approach integrates neuroscience, emotional awareness, and lived experience to support meaningful and lasting change.

Through individual sessions, couples work, leadership support, workshops, and the Neurological Intelligence® book series, people are guided in recognizing patterns that once served a purpose but may now limit growth or create unnecessary suffering.

This is not about erasing the past. It is about understanding it-so it no longer runs the present.

What Is Neurological Intelligence®?

Neurological Intelligence® is the ability to understand how your nervous system forms meaning and how that meaning shapes perception, emotion, behavior, and relationships-moment by moment.

Our nervous systems are shaped through experience. Over time, emotional learning becomes belief. Belief becomes protection. Protection becomes pattern. When these patterns remain unconscious, they tend to repeat. When they become visible, choice returns.

Neurological Intelligence® does not teach control. It teaches cooperation with your inner system. Through awareness, patterns can soften, integrate, and transform in ways that support greater clarity, balance, and freedom.

At its heart is a simple truth:

It is not what happens to you. It is what happens within you.

A Note from Glenn

I did not set out to create a methodology. I set out to understand myself.

Like many people, my early life shaped emotional and relational patterns long before I had language for them. I searched for answers through psychology, spirituality, leadership training, and personal growth. Each offered insight, but none fully explained how the nervous system stores meaning-or how early experiences quietly shape our lives.

Over time, Neurological Intelligence® emerged not as a theory, but as a map.

My work is shaped by both professional training and lived experience. I meet people with respect, humility, and care. I also hold people accountable and gently challenge the stories that keep them from living fully.

  • You are not here to fix yourself. You are here to understand yourself.

When the inner world becomes visible, the outer world becomes changeable. If you are here, you are not broken. Something within you is asking to be heard.

My Kind of Music, My Kind of Town!

Tonight, on Jam’ n Java...with the help of musician and vocalist extraordinaire Dave Zane...Robby Robinson is shining the spotlight on one of the most genre-defying music regions in the United States...Chicago, Illinois.

When it comes to the Chicago music scene of the 1960s and 1970s...one singular phrase comes to mind.

Melting Pot.

The City of Chicago earned the distinction of being called a Melting Pot...early on...referring to its diverse cultural heritage. People of many different backgrounds came together and formed one beautiful “Melting Pot”.

The same can be said for Chicago’s music.

There is no one "definitive" style and this is precisely what makes Chicago so unique, diverse, intriguing and aesthetically pleasing.

Take the group The Buckinghams...for instance.

The Buckinghams effortlessly transcended countless musical styles...from the Cannonball Adderly Blues-Soul-Jazz cover “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” to exceptionally delivered British Beatlemania covers such as “I Call Your Name”, to rhythm and blues inspired ditties like “Lawdy Miss Clawdy” (originally a hit for Llyod Price), the Marty Grebb jazz-rock infused “Back in Love Again”, and who could forget their original pop-rock-blue-eyed-soul mash-ups “Kind of a Drag” and “Don’t You Care”. And what about “Susan” which included a psychedelic freak-out of epic proportions, slightly ahead of its time or their introspective concept album, “In One Ear and Gone Tomorrow.” And in the 1970s, members Dennis Tufano and Carl Giammarse went an entirely different direction with the singer/songwriter craze, churning out folksy, bluesy, soft rock sounds on Lou Adler's Ode Records!

Don’t even get me started on The Cryan' Shames...who are quite honestly the American equivalent of The Beatles. If you don’t know them...please listen to their recordings of “If I Needed Someone” and “Up On the Roof”. Their voices are mesmerizing! You want to talk about genre-defying? Until this day...The Cryan' Shames probably hold the record for the tightest harmonies in the world, rivaling The Beach Boys, effortlessly transitioning between sunshine pop/bubble gum pop with “I Wanna Meet You” and “Sugar and Spice”, to a mind-blowing, deep cut rendition of “If I Needed Someone” that nearly puts the Beatles to shame.

When one thinks of the Chicago music scene, the following groups immediately come to mind. I simply do not have the space here to tell you about all of them today...but PLEASE give them a listen! Many are still performing! Some have sadly left us. Please experience and support their music!

The Buckinghams

The Ides of March

The Shadows of Knight

Jimy Rogers and The Mauds

The Cryan’ Shames

The American Breed

The Mob

Aliotta, Haynes and Jerimiah

Chicago Transit Authority (aka Chicago)

Jamestown Massacre

The Impressions

The Staples Singers

The Flamingos

As far as Dave Zane...he is absolutely iconic...a guitar genius of the highest caliber and an equally gifted vocalist. Dave Zane is highly respected by his peers and fans, not just in Chicago, but worldwide, having worked with everyone who is anyone in the music business. Dave Zane is a name synonymous with the music industry! A stellar performer, with a heart of gold, he sets the stage on fire and his guitar ablaze, every time he picks it up to play. Anytime I was blessed to meet him after a show he has been a true gentleman and class act.

“It’s going to be a fun night of ???????????????????? ????????????????????????????, ???????????????????? ????????????????????, ???????????? ???? ???????????????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????? & ???????????? ????????????????????????????. I’m excited to welcome ???????????????? ????????????????, lead guitarist and vocalist with the legendary ????????????????????????????????????????????! Dave has been a key part of the ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????? ????????????????????, performing with bands such as ???????????? ???????????????????????????????????????????? since 2010, and ???????????? ????????????????????’ ???????????????????????? and ???????????? ???????????????????????????????????? before that.”, said Robby Robinson.

A winter storm warning has been issued for parts of Illinois and Wisconsin, while a blizzard warning impacts the northwestern portion of the state.

The National Weather Service has now expanded that blizzard warning to include McHenry and DeKalb counties beginning at 10 p.m. Sunday and running through 1 p.m. Monday.

Blizzard conditions are expected at times, with wind gusts in excess of 40 miles per hour and snowfall accumulations of 3-to-5 inches, according to the warning.

A light glaze of ice is also possible, with forecasters warning that the worst of the snow could occur during the Monday morning commute.

A winter weather advisory has also been issued for central and southern Cook County, along with Grundy and Will counties, beginning at 1 a.m. Monday and running through 1 p.m.

Snowfall accumulations of 1-to-3 inches are possible, along with wind gusts in excess of 40 miles per hour.

According to the National Weather Service, another blizzard warning goes into effect at 7 p.m. Sunday and will run through 1 p.m. Monday. Winnebago, Boone, Ogle and Lee counties are impacted by the warning.

A winter weather advisory is also going into effect late Sunday in McHenry, Lake, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, LaSalle, Kendall and norther Cook counties in Illinois.

Snow is expected to bring approximately one-to-three inches of accumulation in the area, with blowing snow causing visibility issues on area roadways.

According to the National Weather Service, visibility may be sharply reduced due to falling and blowing snow, with slippery road conditions also possible due to heavy snowfall.

Those hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute as well, with gusty winds expected throughout the area.

Total snow accumulations of three-to-six inches, and gusty winds up to 50 miles per hour, are possible in Illinois.

In parts of Wisconsin, a winter weather advisory will go into effect at 7 p.m. Sunday and run through 4 p.m. Monday, including in Kenosha County.

Mixed precipitation is expected to fall in the area, with total snow and sleet accumulations between two-to-four inches. The area could also see up to one-tenth of an inch of ice, with winds gusting in excess of 40 miles per hour.

Those conditions could cause hazardous driving conditions and isolated power outages according to NWS, and residents are being urged to use caution.

In far northwestern Illinois, a blizzard warning will go into effect at 7 p.m. and will last until Monday afternoon.

Anywhere from four-to-nine inches of snow could fall, and blizzard conditions are expected on area roadways, with significant visibility issues and slippery conditions leading to extremely dangerous travel in the area.

In addition, wind gusts in excess of 50 miles per hour and a light glaze of ice are also possible.

Elsewhere in the area, gusty winds and light snow are expected, with wind chills in the single-digits and high temperatures in the 20s on both Monday and Tuesday.

Chicago, Illinois – A line of showers and thunderstorms moving across northern Illinois may bring lightning, small hail, and brief downpours through midday Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service Chicago office, a broken line of storms is tracking northward across northern Illinois, with the highest chances for thunder expected in a narrow corridor north of Interstate 55 late Sunday morning. Surrounding areas may still see scattered showers as the system moves through the region.

Meteorologists say the storms are moving northeast at roughly 60 mph, meaning conditions could change quickly as the line advances toward communities including Aurora, Joliet, DeKalb, Elgin, and areas west and northwest of Chicago.

The National Weather Service says the primary hazards in the most active storm corridor include lightning strikes and small hail, potentially reaching about nickel size. In surrounding areas, storms may produce brief heavy rain and gusty winds capable of knocking down small branches or moving unsecured outdoor objects.

Officials also warn that downpours could temporarily slow travel, especially on major roadways such as I-88, I-90, I-55, and I-80 as storms move through the region.

Residents are advised to move indoors if thunder is heard and to use caution while driving in heavy rain, as visibility and road conditions may change quickly.

While the storm activity is expected to remain scattered, forecasters say conditions will continue to be monitored through the late morning hours as the line progresses northeast.

For commuters and students traveling Sunday morning, brief weather disruptions could occur as storms pass through northern Illinois.

Expect some weather whiplash Sunday, with high temperatures near 60 degrees giving way to possible storms, wind gusts over 50 mph, and, eventually, accumulating snow.

According to the National Weather Service, a broken line of showers and storms will initially move through northern Illinois through noon Sunday, with the risk of thunderstorms north of I-55 and scattered showers for the surrounding area.

But it won't end there. Waves of showers and storms are expected throughout the day, with the threat of damaging thunderstorm winds primarily between 4 and 9 p.m.

Storm risks include lightning strikes and small hail up to nickel-size, while those experiencing showers could see downpours leading to slowed driving and gusty winds that could topple small branches or move light objects.

A wind advisory is in effect for DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake and Cook counties from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday. That includes Evanston, Palatine, Downers Grove, Aurora, Wheaton, Des Plaines, Naperville, Northbrook, Oak Lawn, Oswego, Buffalo Grove, Yorkville and La Grange.

The National Weather Service warns of peak wind gusts that could reach over 50 mph in most of the Chicago area, cautioning that new wind advisories may be needed later in the day.

Drivers should take care when driving in open and exposed areas, especially on west-to-east roadways, and residents should secure loose outdoor objects.

A winter weather advisory will be in effect for DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and northern Cook counties from 10 p.m. Sunday to 1 p.m. Monday, with total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, although some areas could see more snow accumulation.

The advisory is in effect for cities including Evanston, Palatine, Downers Grove, Aurora, Naperville, Wheaton, Des Plaines, Crystal Lake, Oswego and Algonquin.

The National Weather Service said snow and blowing snow are expected, with wind gusts up to 45 mph.

Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous, and blowing snow will result in reduced visibility and make travel hazardous at times through the Monday morning commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches, NWS said.

Meanwhile, a blizzard warning is in effect from 10 p.m. Sunday to 1 p.m. Monday for Knox and Stark counties, including the cities of Toulon and Galesburg.

While total snow accumulations are expected to be between 2 and 3 inches, blizzard conditions with wind gusts up to 50 mph are expected.

Residents were told to "plan on slippery road conditions" and blowing snow that could reduce visibility to a quarter-mile or less, as well as gusty winds that can bring down tree branches.

"Travel should be restricted to emergencies only," NWS warned residents. "If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle."
